New Delhi, August 20(KNS): The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the Union Government’s recent move to introduce three new bills aimed at disqualifying the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and other ministers after 30 days in judicial custody.
In an official statement released issued to KNS, the CPI(M) described the move as “anti-democratic” and a clear attempt to bypass due legal processes.
The party accused the Narendra Modi-led BJP government of displaying a consistent pattern of undermining constitutional procedures, especially by targeting opposition leaders and state governments under the guise of addressing so-called “heinous crimes.”
“This move is obnoxious and undermines the checks and balances essential for any functioning democracy,” the statement read.
It added that the proposal would be used as a political weapon against opposition-ruled states and leaders, warning that the reference to criminal conduct was merely a cover to mask the government's real intentions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Drawing attention to what it termed the “neo-fascistic tendencies” of the current regime, the CPI(M) said such blanket legislations were being brought in to avoid judicial scrutiny and concentrate power.
The party vowed to oppose the legislative proposal “with all the strength at its command” and called upon all democratic and secular opposition forces to come together in resisting what it called an “uncalled for” and dangerous move.
The statement concludes with an appeal for unity among opposition parties to defend constitutional values and safeguard Indian democracy from authoritarian encroachments.(KNS).
