Jammu, Dec 31 (KNS) :-Paying revolutionary tributes on the 32nd death anniversary of Comrade Abul Kabir Wani, CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami said late Comrade Abdul Kabir Wani played a decisive role in organising farmers and leading resistance against anti-farmer policies during a crucial period in the regions history.

In a statement issued, Terming late Comrade Wani a veteran revolutionary kisan leader with Marxist approach, he dedicated his life to the struggles of peasants and the working class in Jammu and Kashmir he said.

Recalling the events of November and December 1967, he said a massive Kisan gathering was held at Chawalgam, Kulgam under the leadership of Abdul Kabir Wani to protest against the Khush Khareed policy of forcible procurement of paddy, which left farmers with insufficient grain for their own sustenance. The slogans such as “Greas Gund” and “Sar Dengay, Surplus Nahi Dengay” echoed during these programmes and later became common household expressions, reflecting the determination of farmers to safeguard their rights and dignity.

His contribution will always be celebrated as a token of struggle for the rights of the farmers and other downtrodden and neglected sections of the society. His vision was rooted in logic, reason, rationality and scientific principles.

Throughout his political life, Abdul Kabir Wani remained at the forefront of peasant struggles and worked tirelessly to organise farmers against exploitation and unjust policies at a time of acute economic hardships and food insecurity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Wani’s close association with rural communities and his consistent stand on issues of land rights, fair procurement and dignity of labour made him a trusted voice of Kisans and a leader rooted in their everyday realities and collective aspirations.

Abdul Kabir Wani was a valiant advocate of unity of the erstwhile J&K State and emphasized for greater unity among all sections of people across the state to fight against impending regressive, divisive, exploitative and communal forces who are hell bent to divide the people and the state.

We have to be cautious to thwart the divisive and communal designs of the forces at the helm of affairs which can be ensured by maintaining unity and plural ethos among the people.

Among others, Mohd.Khalil Naik, former MLA and colleague of Ab.Kabir Wani, Mohd.Abass Rather, State Secretary, CPI(M), Hari Singh, Secretary Regional Committee CPI(M), Jammu, Om Prakash, Working President CITU J&K, Kishore Kumar, President J&K Kisan Tehrik, Gh.Hassan Ranjoor, Comrade Mohan Lal Akoora, Nana Ji Hanjan(Tej Krishan), Abdul Majd Malik, Bashir Ahmad Wani also addressed the function. Ramesh Bhat, member, State Committee CPI(M) conducted the proceedings of the programme.

A similar programme was also held in commemoration of 32nd death anniversary of late Comrade Abduk Kabir Wani at the party office in Kulgam district headquarter.(KNS)
