Baramulla Mar 20 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to avert any kind of eventuality that may emerge due to novel COVID-19 outbreak, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo accompanied by SSP Baramulla Ab. Qayoom atoday inspects the quarantine centre established at Govt Medical College Baramulla to take the appraisal of various preventive measures made with regard to the prevention of its spread.
On the occasion, DC was briefed by the Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital Baramulla Dr Syed Masood about various arrangements made in the quarantine centre. He also informed that suitable arrangements have been made for the attendants.
It was informed that adequate measures have been taken by the administration with regard to the prevention of COVID-19 spread which includes deployment of medical teams for thermal screening at various locations, launching of massive sanitation drive in both urban as well as rural areas, imposition of section 144 Cr.P.C, constitution of surveillance teams at various levels among others.
Directing the concerned authorities to act in an efficient manner, DC stressed for remaining vigilant and said that any kind of laxity won’t be tolerated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe directed to put in place a viable mechanism so that any kind of emergency is tackled smoothly. He also inspected various pharmaceutical centers and exhorted upon them not to allow large gatherings at their centers. He also directed them to sell the masks and hand sanitizers at appropriate rates and warned that strict action shall be taken against erring persons.
Later, the DC chaired a meeting with the concerned officers to discuss various measures with regard to its prevention wherein more emphasis was laid on adopting preventive measures besides synergizing efforts for identifying all such persons having travel history to the affected regions.
On the occasion, a threadbare discussion on various issues was held during which necessary contingency plans at different levels were formulated so that more proactive measures are taken. Others issues that were thoroughly discussed includes smooth collection of samples, institutional as well as home quarantine facilities, liaison between different agencies etc. (KNS)
