Anantnag, April 23 (KNS):  Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla today launched the “Chalo Tika Lagwayen”(Let’s get vaccinated) Campaign here at DC office Anantnag. Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mukhtar Shah,  Dy. Chief Medical Officer Dr M.Y. Zagoo and other officials were also present on the occasion. 


The aim of the campaign is to achieve a cent per cent Covid vaccination of the target groups of the district in nearest future.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the pace of vaccination has picked up appreciably during recent time. “We are trying to further increase the daily targets up to 13000 from the current 6000 doses", he added.

He informed the administration and the health authorities of the district are taking proactive measures to address the increasing demand for vaccines. 

Emphasising the importance of vaccination, Dr Singla said the severity of the symptoms and hence the hospital admissions reduce drastically in the vaccinated people.

Appealing the eligible people to get vaccinated, the DC said the vaccine is absolutely safe and develops substantial immunity against the virus. “This has been a product of one year of brainstorming research wherein top scientists of the country have worked hard and contributed their part", he remarked.   

 Dr Singla also warned of strict legal action against the rumour-mongers spreading misinformation about the safety of the vaccine besides advising the general public not to pay any heed to such elements.  

The CMO informed the district has vaccinated 114000 ( One Lac Fourteen Thousand) persons so far with more than 12000 ( Twelve Thousand) persons having received the second dose of the vaccine as well. “Pertinently, not a single case of AEFI (Adverse Effects Following Immunization) has been reported anywhere from the district ”, he added.

Dr Shah said the leading doctors, top officials, elected public representatives besides the senior citizens and eminent public figures of the district in the eligible category have already got vaccinated.

 He also urged all above 45-year-old people to get vaccinated for the Covid-19 at their nearest vaccination site. (KNS)
