Srinagar, May 4 (KNS) : The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Monday executed a court-issued proclamation against an absconding accused in a case registered in 2023, directing him to surrender within 30 days or face property attachment.
Officials said the proclamation order under section 82 of the CrPC was issued by the Additional Sessions Judge (Special Judge designated under NIA Act), Srinagar, against Showkat Ahmad Sheikh @ Showkat Mochi, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of Ganai Hamam, Baramulla. He is an absconding accused in FIR No. 07/2023 registered at Police Station CIK.
During investigation, the accused was found to be evading arrest and deliberately avoiding legal proceedings, following which the court initiated proclamation proceedings, they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
A CIK team executed the order in strict compliance with legal procedures. The publication of the proclamation was both photographed and video-graphed, officials added.
The accused has been directed to surrender before the court within 30 days from the date of publication of the proclamation. Officials warned that failure to comply will lead to further legal action, including attachment of property under section 83 of the CrPC.
The CIK reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the presence of absconding accused and conducting thorough investigations in cases involving serious offences. (KNS)
