Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): To chalk out the security strategy for the winter, the Core Group Kashmir Tuesday met Army’s Badami Bagh Cantonment and reviewed the overall situation.
The meeting was co-chaired by Lt Gen J S Sandhu, GOC Chinar Corps and Security Advisor and K Rajendra Kumar, Director General, J&K Police and attended by top officials of all the constituents of the Core Group including civil administration and security agencies, said army in a press statement to KNS.
However, sources privy to the meeting told KNS that during the crucial meeting the Chinar Corps Commander told the J&K police and other security agencies very clearly that there was a critical need of maintaining the high level of synergy amongst all the agencies so that the State can be taken out of the present morass.
The officers of CID, Police and other wings of the security forces have pointed out some security lapses about the overall security situation and about the frequent militant attacks along the Srinagar-Jammu highway, sources added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Later the DG Police elaborated about the key security initiatives that have been put into place to manage the law and order situation in the Valley.
A top official said that while the top army officers highlighted the importance about the robust counter infiltration and counter militancy grid, it was discussed threadbare that a strategy needs to be chalked out to tackle the increasing home grown militancy.
“The members deliberated upon various issues to evolve a comprehensive strategy to respond to the various external and internal security challenges,” they said. (KNS)
