Srinagar, Oct 13 (KNS): The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday condemned the continuous arrest of party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and all other resistance leaders while terming it frustration of the State government.
In a statement issued to KNS, a DFP spokesperson said authorities in order to prevent the resistance leaders and people from registering the peaceful protests have by kept the leadership behind bars. “This is autocratic approach on part of the government,” he said.
Expressing serious concern over Shabir Ahmad Shah’s continuous police detention, the spokesperson said the pro-freedom leader’s health has been severely deteriorated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“But Shabir Ahmad Shah is firm in his resolve,” he said.
With the start of the ongoing anti-India uprising, Shabir Ahmad Shah was arrested on July 14 and is detained at Raj Bagh police station.
Paying tributes to Shabir Ahmad Shah for his steadfastness, the spokesperson said he (Shah) has remained committed on his stand of Azadi and has spent 29 years and six months in jails. “His detention is undemocratic and unconstitutional,” he said.
The spokesperson condemned the barbarism by forces in Sopore, Tral, and other areas. “The arrests and other suppressive measures won’t break our resolve,” he said. (KNS)
