Contaminated Water Supply Raises Health Concerns in Maisuma: Ajaz Ahmad War

Srinagar, August 08 (KNS): Water contamination has emerged as a major public health concern in the historic locality of Maisuma Srinagar, where residents are reportedly receiving contaminated unclean water in their homes.

Prominent social activist Ajaz Ahmad War has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating quality of the water supply in the area. According to him, residents are being forced to consume visibly dirty water, resulting in a surge of water-borne diseases.
“The water being supplied is unfit for consumption. People are falling ill. Authorities must intervene before the situation worsens,” War said.

The Jal Shakti Department has confirmed that the water supply in Maisuma is sourced from two different origins.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, the department has yet to address the concerns raised by the local population.

War has appealed to the administration to prioritize the quality of water over quantity. “Even if the supply is reduced, it should be clean and safe. Contaminated water is a direct threat to public health,” he added.

He urged the Jal Shakti Department not to overlook Maisuma while working to ensure water quality across Srinagar. “Maisuma must not be left behind. Immediate steps are needed to ensure safe drinking water for all,” War emphasized. The negligence and silence of the Jal Shakti department is putting the life of the inhabitants of this entire area at risk.(KNS)
