Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): The Congress women workers on Monday staged protest against the demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupees old currency notes.
The women workers assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government in the centre.
They also raised pro-congress slogans during the protest.
Talking to KNS, the Congress women workers said that the central government took the decision of demonetization, which resulted in the tremendous hardships to the people across the country. “Demonetization is a scam, which rendered hundreds of people across the country jobless,” they said.
The protesting congress workers said that they were forced to take streets against the central government as their tall claims of ‘ache din’ turned into ‘bure din’ to the people here.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“We believe that the central Government took this step for their vested interests. The poor section of the society has been left to face hardships. The government failed to achieve the goal for which they announced demonetization,” the protesters said.
They said that the congress party will oppose the anti-people policies tooth and nail and won’t allow the current regime to leave common man to suffer. “We will play our role of opposition and won’t allow the government in centre as well as in the state Jammu and Kashmir to carry out any anti-people policy,” they said.
Meanwhile, the protesting congress women workers dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
