Jammu, May 11 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has welcomed certain relief measures announced by the LG Manoj Sinha today for the covid victims and other poor sections but termed the same as inadequate besides seeking inclusion of other deserving sections in the relief package.
 
Meanwhile, the party has again stressed for further strengthening of the overall health and medicare facilities with the engagement of required manpower and removing the shortcomings in the logistics in all hospitals required to save lives in view of high mortality rates in Jammu hospitals.
 
Taking review of the government initiatives and efforts of the LG administration to grapple with the worsening situation, the JKPCC chief Shri G A Mir took stock of the problems of the people with the Covid Committees of the party comprising Shri Raman Bhalla, Th Balwan Singh, Shri Yogesh Sawhney and Ravinder Sharma for Jammu and Shri Taj Mohiuddin, Mohammad Amin Bhat Ex-MLA, S S Channi, Ab Ghani Khan for Kashmir.
 
JKPCC Chief spokesperson Shri Ravinder Sharma disclosed that the party has welcomed the initiative of the LG to announce certain relief measures for the most deserving victims of the Covid situation whereby the senior citizens who have been left without bread earners have to be given a pension and also a relief to few others besides two monthly relief to labourers @ 1000per month, which is meagre assistance and should be enhanced to six thousand per month.
 
The party has said that the government should include the rehriwalas, other Street vendors and small traders for cash assistance besides small transport operators, drivers and cleaners as well other non registered labourers in the package.
 All others daily bread earners should be identified and given financial assistance till lockdown is over to manage meals to their families.
 
Taking strong exception of the non-availability of ration on government depot s, the party leaders urged for the supply of ration on PDS and availability of free ration as already announced for two months immediately. They also asked for dispensing with the biometric system till covid risks.
 
The party also demanded the timely and regular release of wages to the daily wagers, needs-based casual and other such workers in all Govt, semi-government organisations besides Asha workers, NHM staff, Anganwadi workers) helpers etc without any delay to meet their two ends.
 
The party has again reiterated the demand for further strengthening and up-gradation of the health and medical facilities in the hospitals and making the shortage of human resource and logistics and medical equipment in the hospitals especially the GMC and associated hospitals as well as peripheral hospitals keeping in view the higher number of casualties continuously for the past one month.
 
Lauding the efforts of the doctors and other health workers, they urged for improving the facilities and build the trust deficient and consult experts and go by their advice to improve the life savings. The reports in the media suggest a certain shortage of ventilators supported beds, BPAP equipment s leading to more casualties which is very unfortunate and should be done in-ear footing.(KNS)
