Seeks special package for unemployed youth

Kulgam April 12 (KNS) Congress on Monday asked the Govt to explain to people as to what it has delivered after repeated assurances and promises with regard to inclusive development, employment, economic crisis, etc confronting J&K.

As per the statement issued to kashmir news service (KNS),The party also slammed the Govt for disempowering the panchayats, as a result, the developmental process at grassroots was badly hit, besides the unprecedented price hike on petrol, diesel, cooking gas and essentials added more problems to common people.

This was stated by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir while addressing largely attended gathering of sarpanchs and panchs as part of party’s 45 days “Panchayat Ki Aur Programme”  at valentengo area of Kund Qazgund in Kulgam District.

Senior Congress Leader & Ex. MLA Devsar Mohd Amin Bhat and various other leaders also addressed the largely attended gathering of Sarpanchs and Panchs.

G.A.Mir said 45 days panchayat Ki Aur programme was Congress Party’s  endeavor to reach nook and corner of J&K to receive feedback, besides reviewing the outcome of Back to Villages events, functioning of panchayat bodies and development at grass roots  level across J&K while having strong urge to reach out to people to highlight the developmental and other problems concerning them due to the wrong policies adopted by the Govt.

The sarpanchs and panchs present in the meeting briefed JKPCC President about their difficulties and  various developmental issues concerning their respective areas, regretting that they  were not able to exercise their powers citing different reasons, besides the govt apathy in implementing the decisions taken by the panchayat bodies, as a result, the development at grass roots level  suffered enormously.

JKPCC President termed the Govt attitude as indifferent and discriminatory towards the people, contrary to the claims  with regard to inclusive development of J&K made by the Govt from time to time, even after involving all stake holders, Govt departments and common people ,the B2Vs have not come upto the expectations of the people.

Mir said had there been seriousness and proper mechanism in place   the  B2Vs (back to village events) would have been result oriented, but unfortunately that does not happen,  Mir added and said   due to the wrong policies adopted by the Centre, the  process of developmental  was badly hit, adding more problems to people, who were feeling cheated.

The Govt has failed on all fronts especially development, employment fronts, could not take the timely measures that were required to be taken in the larger interest of common people, Mir said.

There was strong feeling among the general public that Govt was punishing them under the garb of terror tax, unprecedented price hike, property tax, etc, which was big source of anguish and disappointment among the people, JKPCC President said.

Rather than addressing the unemployment menace, economic crisis the Govt has unleashed the terror tax on people abandoning them of their rights, which was not acceptable to Congress Party and pledged to continue to fight against these anti people decisions of the Govt, Mir said.

Congress Party was on the job of assessing the ground situation during the ongoing 45 days of Panchayat Ki Aur to observe what the people have achieved after participating in  B2v, DDC and BDC elections, visibly there was no development to be seen at grass roots level as far as  common people were concerned, Mir elaborated.

Addressing the gathering  of Sarpanchs and panchs Senior Congress leader and Former MLA Mohd Amin Bhat expressed deep concern over the rising unemployment, lack of development, price hike and said these wrong decision by the Govt have pushed the people to wall and slamming it (Govt) for failing to address the needs of the people,

He said there were thousands of daily wagers, casual and need basis  working in different department, who were waiting and agitating for their regularization since years, but the Govt was just making tall claims for their  appropriate adjustment, whileas it(Govt) was not able to take decision, causing further hardships for them, the rising unemployment was the cause of restlessness among the educated youth of J&K, Senior Congress Leader said.

Mohd Amin Bhat asked the Govt to come out with a special package to come over unemployment menace and other developmental issues and emphasized it to enable sarpanchs and panchs to perform their duties for which they have been chosen, as  the interference in their routine working has affected the PRIs, which was not only unfortunate but a matter of grave concern, has to be addressed, in the larger interests of people J&K.
