Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNS): On the directions of Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, a high-level Congress team led by it’s State Chief G.A. Mir reaches out to fire sufferers of Sukhnai Warwan a far-off place with a very difficult hilly terrain in District Kishtwar and took stock of the damages caused to people due to the devastating fire, that has engulfed the entire village within no time leaving the poor inhabitants high and dry.
The team comprises MLA & Vice President G. M. Saroori, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Senior Leader & EX MLA Balbir Singh.
The team made on the spot assessment of the damages and the problems confronting the devastated families in the backdrop of the major fire incident, in which hundreds of souls lost their households and other belongings, leaving them shelterless.
Expressing deepest concern over the devastation caused, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir while terming the incident as most unfortunate and highly painful assured the affected of every possible help from the Congress party especially from Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who feels highly concerned about their rehabilitation. He told the people at Sukhani that Congress Party is committed to their rehabilitation and will do everything possible to ensure respite to them in this hour of distress.
He blamed the PDP BJP Coalition for failing to reach out to the affected at this time of need and urged upon the Govt not to waste time in providing assistance people affected by the devastation, who are already living hand to mouth that too with great difficulty, besides remaining cut off from the State for about six months during the winters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
On this occasion PCC Chief distributed relief cheques sanctioned by Congress President Sonia Gandhi among 120 Families of Sukhani. He also announced 30,000 to each family besides 10 blankets out of MPLAD of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, which will be distributed by the District Development Commissioner, very shortly.
PCC Chief also conveyed sympathies of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to affected people and told them that both (Sonia Ji and Rahul ji) were extremely concerned for their rehabilitation, as a result, the Congress President very immediately deputed them (G.A. Mir & Team) to provide succor to them (people).
Meanwhile, PCC Chief accompanied by team members had a detailed discussion with senior citizens and Congress Party workers of Warwan (Kishtwar) about the situation obtaining in the Warwan Area. They (Congress Leaders) was apprised by the people and the Congress workers about the difficult situation people are confronted with in absence of Electricity, Road Connectivity, Ration, Cooking Gas and other essentials and sought Congress party intervention to address their genuine concerns.
On this occasion PCC Chief assured the people that Congress Party will continue to highlight their concerns in Both Houses of Legislature and outside and will make the State Govt of PDP BJP accountable an answerable to them. He also told them Congress party is duty bound to strengthen people, especially down trodden, people living in far flung areas and below poverty line, he added. (KNS)
