Srinagar, Nov 15 (KNS): J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Leader Muneer Ahmad Mir on Monday completed three day’s tour of Machil area of Kupwara District while expressing serious concern over the hardships confronting people on account of basic needs in this far flung area.

Congress leader also appreciated Power Development Department for ensuring electricity in some areas and said there was need to cover other areas to ensure respite to people.

While completing three day’s tour of Machil area of Kupwara District, Congress leader Muneer Ahmad Mir sought Govt’s attention to the hardships confronting people in the far flung area on account of roads, health infrastructure, poverty elevation, electricity and other basic needs and sought redressal issues by attaching huge importance to this far flung area given their topography, which was neglected on every count.

"Muneer Ahmad Mir appreciated Power Development Department for ensuring electricity in some areas in Machil, but there is a need to cover entire Machil on this front, as that, people have been witnessing difficulties especially during chilling winter," he said.

"There were total nine halqas, but only one halqa have PHC and brank facility, while remaining eight halqas were without any health facility or bank branch, which has to be ensured on priority basis to ensure respite to people in this far flung area."

Congress leader further said people in Machil have APL ration cards, besides they have only months for cultivation, how could they afford ration, as the five month’s cultivation was not enough for 12 month ration and demanded supply of ration to Machile under BPL category.

"Govt must focus over the plight of people living in Machil," Congress leader added and urged LG J&K Manoj Sinha to direct the administration to review the basic needs required by the people in Machil and other far flung area in Kupwara District inorder to ensure that their grievances were addressed.
