Congress leader arrested over Amit Shah's fake video, sent to 3-day police custody

New Delhi, May 04 (KNS): The social media chief of the Congress party has been arrested over accusations he misleadingly doctored a widely shared video during an ongoing national election, police said Saturday.

Arun Reddy was detained late Friday in connection with the edited video, which falsely shows Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying that the BJP stands against the reservations in the country.

Reddy "was arrested yesterday on investigation about... a doctored video of the home minister", reports said.

Following his arrest, he was produced in the court and was sent to 3-day police custody.

On Tuesday, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police issued summons to 16 individuals across seven to eight states in connection with the circulation of the 'doctored' video. (KNS)
