Says disruption in power supply must be avoided

Srinagar, Dec 19 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi Sunday supported the strike call given against the privatization of power sector terming the move as unwanted and unacceptable.

In a statement issued to KNS, JKPCC General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi has termed the strike call given by All India Power engineers Federation (AIPEF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Power Engineers and employees Coordination committee (JKPEECC) against privatization of Power Sector as genuine and in the larger interests of the consumers.

PCC General Secretary extended full support to strike,at the sametime, Channi emphasized that the supply of electricity should not be disturbed, there were reports of difficulties confronting Covid Patients due to the disruption in power supply, which should neither happen nor encouraged, he emphasized.

"The privatization of Power Sector in J&K is bound to put further burden on the people, who are already facing economic crisis," Channi added and urged the Govt to revisit the decision keeping inview the topography and weather condition of J&K, besides economic condition of the common people, which is no satisfactory.
