Congress demands release of pending payments of contractors, firms, suppliers

 

Srinagar Feb 21:(KNS)  The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Monday lashed out at the Govt for not releasing pending payments of Contractors, who have completed their works long before.

In a statement to Kashmir News Service (KNS), JKPCC General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi has expressed surprise over the long delay in releasing payment to Contractors while having completed their projects by abiding all norms and tendering process.

Channi said that after qualifying tendering process, the contractors and different Firms executed their works and even handed over the projects to concerned department, besides the suppliers supplied the required material etc, which are being utilized since years, but the payment have not been released in their favour, which has caused enormous hardships to them.

It is very surprising that Govt doesn’t have funds for those projects who have been completed long before  and  handed them to concerned  departments/agencies, Channi added and emphasized the Govt to ensure that funds for the works completed be released in favour of the contractors,firms and suppliers without any further loss of time ensuring that they are able to earn their livelihood and  liquidate the loans availed by them form different banks.

The young entrepreneurs are also worst hit due to the non-availability of funds, which is bound to create more unemployment in Kashmir as well as in Jammu, which has to be taken care by attaching huge importance to this pressing issue.

Congress General Secretary sought LG’s intervention into the release of funds and demanded immediate redressal of grievances confronting contractors and other similarly situated firms and suppliers.(KNS
