Congress delegation meets LG Sinha

 Jammu, Mar 21 (KNS) ; A high-level delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) led by its working president, Raman Bhalla, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha here on Friday and pressed for restoration of statehood, among a host of other pressing issues.

 
The delegation, which included PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and former general secretary Amrit Bali, submitted a memorandum to the LG at the Lok Bhawan, demanding an additional quota of LPG cylinders for the Union Territory in view of the upcoming pilgrimage and tourist season.
 
The Congress leaders also sought a comprehensive rehabilitation package for refugees of 1947, 1965, and 1971, including those from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). They demanded the implementation of a full package of ?30 lakh per family, which was originally recommended by the then Congress-NC government in 2014 under former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
 
"The Centre had sanctioned only ?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel5.5 lakh per family, and even that has not been disbursed to all registered families," the delegation said, while also demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the refugee community.
 
Expressing deep concern over the rising crime graph in the Jammu region, the delegation urged the LG to sanction additional recruitment and deployment of security forces to curb crime and the drug menace. They also raised the issue of the lingering LPG crisis, calling for an increased allocation to meet the Union Territory’s demands.
 
The delegation highlighted the plight of the Kashmiri migrant community, demanding concrete steps for their relief and rehabilitation. Other issues raised included the regularization of daily wagers and contractual employees, as well as the release of funds for flood relief and the urban development department to aid affected residents.
