Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS): Strongly condemning the behavior of Police Officer with Vice Chancellor KU Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi at Jammu Srinagar National Highway, Congress today expressed serious concern over the attitude of the State Police towards the head of the Prestigious Institutions (KU), who was on way to Srinagar yesterday and described it as an act of disgrace to Prof. Andrabi, who is not only VC of KU, but a renowned Scholar of the State.
In a statement issued to KNS, expressing serious concern over the incident the JKPCC Spokesperson said that the Police Officer on duty as per the rule of law should have awarded Challan to the Driver of the vehicle against the use of tinted glass inspite of making the VC wait on the road for about 20 minutes, besides the videography of the episode has added confusion to the incident and it should be probed who uploaded the Video on Facebook.
what was the motive behind taping the incident of removing tint from the SUV of VC, the spokesman questioned, however, he added that the Party have full faith in the Rule of Law which is equal for everyone, but the circumstances in which the SUV of VC was stopped and taping of the incident is something which needs to be probed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Spokesperson asked the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the matter and order an enquiry in order to ascertain the facts behind this whole episode.
Meanwhile, Paying rich tributes to Former Chief Ministers G.M. Sadiq, Syed Mir Qasim and Former Minister G. M. Mir Lasjan on their death anniversaries today, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir lauded their selfless services and great contributions made by them to the overall development of the State and people.
G.A. Mir recalled the leadership qualities of the departed leaders, who remained committed to the cause of strengthening people from grass roots level especially those living below poverty line. They remained close to people all along their lives, he said.
The leaders had done their utmost to bring the State of J&K on the track of development and prosperity and remained committed to their clean and value based politics, Mir said.
He said people would continue to remember these leaders for their pro people polices and leadership qualities, they never compromised on equitable development, unity, and integrity of the State. Mir added. (KNS)
