Says party committed to safeguard the constitution

 

Srinagar Jan 26:(KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today celebrated 72nd Republic Day at Srinagar Party Office in which senior party leaders and workers participated and exchanged greetings

JKPCC hoisted National Flag and also distributed sweets.

In an important function held at Srinagar Party Office, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) led by Senior Party Leader Bashir Ahmad Magrey celebrated the 72nd Republic Day in which prominent leaders and activists participated with great enthusiasm and exchanged greetings.

The Party leaders hoisted tricolor followed by National Anthem and exchanged greetings.

Those who were present on this occasion included General Secretaries JKPCC Surinder Singh Channi, Shameema Iqbal, Party leaders Abdul Gani Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Mir Ruvais, Shameema Sopori, Shameema Mir, Haleem Khan, Mohd Ashraf, Mohd Hussain Wada, Saira, Corporators Bashrat Bin Qadir, Aijaz Rasool and Muzaffar Ahmad, Zahid Bashir besides various other party activists and block presidents.

Addressing the participants, Bashir Ahmad Magrey said that Republic Day reminds us the significance of the Indian constitution which stands guarantee to equal rights to every section living in the country. India is a largest democracy of the world, its constitution was the manifestation of multiplicity, secular character and diversity in the country.

Magrey said India has achieved freedom from British colonial rule after countless sacrifices by the freedom fighters, the constitution guides as how to secure the liberties and respect aspirations of every Indian to ensure that there was no discrimination, he said.

Surinder Singh Channi while addressing the participants said that Indian constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950, which declared India’s occurrence as an independent republic. Janaury 26th was chosen as the date because on this day in 1930 the INC (Indian National Congress) revealed the declaration of India’s independence from the colonial rule, he said.

Congress leaders said that Indian constitution is unique, which takes care and respects urges and aspirations of every colour and religion, guaranteed them equal rights. It should be the bounden duty of the every political Party, social groups especially people of India to save the constitution, which was indicative of India’s beauty and its acceptance as the largest democracy of the world.

Congress Party shall continue to fight and defeat the forces harming the very foundation of the Indian constitution, wont’ compromise on its stated position of safeguarding the constitution and working towards Nation building, peace and development, they added.(KNS)
