Condemnation of selective killings in Kashmir a ritual: Ashwani Chrungoo

Jammu, Oct 08 (KNS): Senior BJP leader, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo on Friday said that condemnation of selective killings in Kashmir valley has become a simple ritual and is not enough, the Kashmir society needs to oppose militancy.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chrungoo said that in the absence of such a stand and position by the society in Kashmir, it will be deemed that it has silent connivance with the genocide against minorities in Kashmir.

The statement reads that there can't be a more cruel method of killing the minorities when they are asked to identify themselves and taken out of queue and killed in the broad daylight in the institution that they serve.

“The irony is that there was no one in the premises to confront the killers who expressed their intent of killings by taking away the victims, one Sikh woman and the other Hindu young man. It speaks volumes about breach in security environment and brittle social responsibility,” it reads.

It reads that in addition to this, the statement of the Hurriyat has added salt to the injury by justifying the killings when it said that, 'such brutal killings are the norm in J&K for the last more than three decades and thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in this causal manner with impunity, with no consequence for the killers.”

"APHC and all of their ilk need to note that Kashmir is a settled issue and nothing will be allowed to be done to unsettle the settled issue,” it reads.

The statement reads that the government should ensure safety and security of minorities in the valley.

“It is also time to ensure political representation to the Hindu and Sikh communities in the J&K Assembly and Parliament in order to politically empower the minority communities in the valley,” it reads. (KNS)
