Srinagar, Jun 19 (KNS): People's Democratic Front General Secretary and senior political leader in Pulwama, Mir Abdul Qayoom has sought Governor's intervention in completing the construction of pending work on water supply schemes in Pulwama district.
Qayoom said that dozens of water supply schemes were alloted to Pulwama assembly segment after public pressure on successive governments, but the sad reality is that no government could complete a single scheme and make them functional.
He said that due to inefficiency of governments and former legislator from Pulwama, people have been using impure water for drinking purposes as none of the scheme was completed.
Citing examples of water supply schemes in Tirch, Gulbagh, Dougam, Parigam, Gulzarpora, Dogripora and other villages, Qayoom said that from the last 12 years work on the schemes was done in phases which could not fulfil the drinking water needs of the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that no water supply scheme is installed with filtration system and the residents are supplied unhygienic water by the PHE department.
He said that the former legislator from Pulwama was not successful to pursue the allotment of funds even before his own government.
He said that the purpose of the schemes will be lost if they are not competed soon as their lifeline will end after years.
He appealed the State governor to intervene and allot funds for these schemes so that people are supplied filtered and hygienic water. (KNS)
