Srinagar, Jun 06 (KNS): Commuters had to face tremendous hardships on Monday as the inhabitants of Langate blocked Baramulla-Handwara national highway to protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) while the government departments in the area also remained closed.
The residents on the wee hours of this morning assembled at national highway and blocked it for the whole day due to which hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on the road.
Inhabitants according to KNS correspondent said that they are facing tremendous hardships due to the non-availability of electricity in their area. “We approached higher ups in this regard but nothing has been done so far,” residents said.
They said that earlier in 2015, they complained of unscheduled power cuts in the area due to the poor feeder line.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"Soon after the complaints by locals, Chief Engineer PDD in a meeting assured that a separate power feeder will be given to Langate area, which was objected by the residents of Gana Pora who are also demanding separate feeder line therefore our sufferings didn’t end," inhabitants said.
Witnesses told KNS that the residents of Langate also raised slogans against the residents of Gana Pora and also blocked the water supply to them.
According to KNS correspondent, Muhammad Ramzan Ilahi, at least 53 government departments are situated in Langate area, which remained closed throughout the day as the protesters didn’t allow vehicle to pass through the road. (KNS)
