Srinagar, June 06 (KNS): Former Minister and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday stressed on an urgent need for community participation in order to increment the reformative measures taken by the department of education under the present dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir.
After adopting the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Chanapora as the Model School in Amirakadal Constituency, Bukhari hailed the efforts put in by the department of education in restructuring the whole education system in the state particularly in the government run schools ever since the present dispensation came to power.
The former minister was addressing a function organized by the GHSS Chanpora on the observance of World Environment Day. He was accompanied by Talat Parvez Rohella, Director Floriculture Kashmir, Arif Malik, Chief Education Officer Srinagar and Javed Bukhari Executive Engineer R&B division 2nd Srinagar. PDP Zonal President Amirakadal Mohammad Ashraf Dar was also present on the occasion.
The former minister said the socio-economic measures taken by the chief minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti to empower women especially to facilitate an easy education for the female students in the state deserve huge appreciations. “In order to increment these efforts of the Honb’le Chief Minister, I announce 10 % of my CDF grants for the Girls Higher Secondary School Chanapora per year till I complete my tenure as the MLA of this constituency. In addition to this, I also announce to compensate this school the fee waived off from the girl students of this school by our Honb’le chief minster out of my CDF so that the development of this school is not hampered,” he remarked.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The MLA Amirakadal asked the director floriculture to address the demands put forth by the GHSS Chanapora principal on priority basis. Bukhari said that though a significant number of reformative decisions have already been taken by the Honb’le Minister for education Naeem Akhter, there is still a scope for the improvement quality of education in government run schools.
Bukhari said the concept of these Model Schools is one step in the direction of providing quality education to the children and efforts are on to improve supervision and the monitoring mechanism of education imparted in the elementary schools of the concerned cluster.
Assuring the staff and the students of GHSS Chanapora of redressal of their problems, Bukhari said that he will facilitate the provision of adequate physical infrastructure, strengthening the academics and making special arrangements for areas of concern for the school.
While referring to the environmental degradation, Bukhari said that the worst floods that hit the Kashmir valley especially Srinagar in 2014 was the creation of unnecessary fiddling with the environment. “2014 deluge was the creation of what we did to the environment. Disasters don’t keep any boundaries of caste, creed, colour or financial positions of the people. We should ponder over the requisite response to the level of degradation before it takes a heavy toll on the sustainability of the environment,” Bukhari observed. (KNS)
