Pulwama, Dec 08 (KNS): SHIRKAT (Community based disaster preparedness) project run by CSSS J&K and supported by Caritas India in collaboration with State Disaster Management Authority and Civil Defence, SDRF, Fire & emergency Pulwama, conducted 1-day Community Mock Drill programme on 7th, December, 2017on Disaster Preparedness at Reshipora Pulwama.
A day-long mock drill programme was attended by of Community Volunteers of Village Disaster management team, community and students as well.
Training aimed to build coping capacity of local community youth for prevention, mitigation, and response to the hazards.
Assistant Director Fire & Emergency Pulwama emphasised the youth to use community based methods for prevention and mitigation of disaster.
He told that “this program will give better shape and preparedness at community level as these community volunteers with reach out at community level and also suggested that we should also involve the parents in the same process for better results”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Participants were trained on rescue, first Aid and how to minimize the losses during any Hazard.
Trainers from SDRF engaged the community youth during Mock drills and acquitted the youth on different hazards like; flood, fire, earthquake etc.
Community appreciated the CSSS-Shirkat team and the trainers for reaching out at community and conducted such training on community preparedness. Altaf Hussain Project coordinator Shirkat presented vote of thanks all the participants and assures more community based DRR training in community level, so that community will be resilient to any disaster.
