To review the progress under National Mission on Saffron (NMS) and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), a meeting under the chairmanship of Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari, Commissioner/Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, was held here today.
The meeting deliberated upon various bottle-necks coming in the way of implementation of this project, particularly with regard to execution of micro irrigation system and establishment of Saffron Park at Dussue Pampore. During the interaction, it was reported that substantial progress has been made under laying of micro irrigation systems in Saffron areas which had not taken off during last two years due to various bottle-necks which all have been resolved.

Nehvi Scientist Saffron Research Centre Dussu will review the progress under different components under National Mission on Saffron especially irrigation component/ rejuvenation program.
Bukhari asked the Director Agriculture Kashmir to monitor the progress of Saffron Mission and administrative Department needs to be informed on regular basis and directed the implementing officers of National Mission on Saffron and MIDH to adhere to operational guidelines carryout the activities/programs in consultation with PRIs for generating the desired impact.
National Mission on Saffron and MIDH were launched to incentivize the state to provide additional resources in their state plans over and above their baseline expenditure to bridge critical gaps.
