Come clear on surgical strikes: NC tells GOI

Castigates Mehbooba over meeting Modi after 90 deaths, thousands of arrests

Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNS): Asking the Government of India (GOI) to clear the air about the debate going on over the surgical strikes by army against Pakistan, main opposition National Conference (NC) on Tuesday castigated the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for waking up after 88 days of unrest and meeting the Prime Minister.
“There is a debate going on at present about whether there was any surgical strike carried by India against Pakistan after Uri attack. We believe that it is the GOI that has to clear the air and come out with the facts,” NC’s provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani told KNS.
He added that the facts are with the government over surgical strikes and it is for the government to decide whether it will allow the debate to keep gaining momentum or clear the confusion. "We cannot comment over the issue. It is the government that has to decide at an earliest."
Reacting over the meeting of the JK chief minister Mehbooba Mufti with the Prime Minister, NC said till date when more than 90 people have been killed during the 88 days of unrest, Mehbooba’s meeting Modi carries least significance.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“It is bizarre that the chief minister whose state has been continuously reeling under unrest for 88 days has decided to meet the prime minister of the country. It should have been done prior to the killing of 90 youth, 7000 arrests, 650 PSAs and maiming of hundreds of civilians,” says Nasir Wani, adding that the chief minister has woken up too late.
He took a further jibe at the chief minister- stating that her party has been making U-turns since the inception of the coalition government and while ‘bartering’ her stand against the petty political gains, Mehbooba’s meeting the prime minister would do least to pacify the situation on ground.
