CoF Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Reading Room cum Library in Bemina


SRINAGAR AUGUST 31 (KNS):  Irfan Ali Shah (IFS), Conservator of Forests, North Kashmir, today inaugurated the "Insights Academy Reading Room cum library," a cutting-edge multimodal learning space in Bemina. The facility is set to become a new benchmark for digital learning infrastructure within the Civil Services ecosystem of the Union Territory.

This innovative initiative, a first of its kind in Srinagar, was conceptualized and funded entirely by local efforts and the personal savings of Ms. Malihaa Farooq, a doctoral scholar in Biotechnology with aspirations to become an edu-entrepreneur. The facility transforms a traditional reading room into an innovative "learning universe," offering a fully air-conditioned and resource-rich environment for aspirants. It is accessible to Civil Services candidates at a nominal monthly subscription, with provisions also made for the general public.

The Insights Reading Room cum library is equipped with a host of modern amenities designed to facilitate effective learning. These include spacious, well-equipped learning panels, access to extensive digital resources, a dedicated collaboration zone, free Wi-Fi, and printing services. The facility also features an in-house healthy food service, aiming to provide a holistic and comfortable learning experience. This initiative is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and fostering a conducive environment for Civil Services aspirants, students, and lifelong learners.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Irfan Ali Shah shared that the inspiration for this project stemmed from his own experiences preparing for the Civil Services Examination.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe highlighted the critical need for supportive and well-resourced learning environments. "This initiative is about empowering our youth with better opportunities and mainstreaming digital learning. It is envisioned as a space that nurtures curiosity and provides the tools necessary for holistic development," Mr. Shah stated.

Ms. Malihaa Farooq, the owner of the facility, expressed her vision for the center. “With its forward-looking design and inclusive ethos, Insights Reading Room is poised to become a vibrant hub of knowledge, innovation, and collaboration—reshaping the learning culture of Srinagar for years to come.” She extended her gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department and especially to Conservator of Forests North Kashmir, Mr. Irfan Ali Shah, for his continuous personal attention, guidance and support in establishing the state-of-the-art facility.

The inaugural event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, including Mr. Ajaz Ahmad(KAS) Personal Officer to PCCF, J&K;
