Modi urges states to reach out to JK students

Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNS): Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday
where the two leaders are likely to discuss the ongoing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba, who attended the NITI Ayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Modi held today in New Delhi, will be meeting Modi on Monday morning. The chief minister will be meeting Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Mehbooba is reported to have raised the issue of safety of Kashmiri students in different states of India in the NITI Ayog meeting.
Later, speaking in the meeting, Modi urged all state governments to reach out to the students of Jammu and Kashmir in their respective states.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Prime Minister "urged states to reach out to these students (of J&K) from time to time", said a statement by the PMO quoting Modi's concluding remarks.
The meeting between the Mehbooba and Modi assumes significance following deteriorating security situation in Kashmir valley and controversies that arose after BJP “backstabbed” PDP in Legislative Council voting and remarks by BJP leaders on Kashmiri protesters.
Mehbooba, it is learnt, will request the PM to start political initiatives on Kashmir that may bring peace in the state. (KNS)
