Srinagar, August 19(KNS): Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi has urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to urgently address the chronic drainage and waterlogging crisis in Shehr-e-Khaas, where even moderate rainfall causes water to enter homes and commercial establishments.
Inam said the recurring waterlogging has caused huge losses to shopkeepers, severely affected businesses and damaged household belongings, leaving residents of
Shehr-e-Khaas face the same ordeal after every rainfall.
Inam Un Nabi urged the government to undertake a comprehensive drainage and sewerage upgrade, regular desilting of drains, restoration of natural water channels and removal of encroachments obstructing drainage, along with better sanitation, roads, traffic management and parking facilities.

“The people of the Old City cannot be made to suffer losses every time it rains. The Chief Minister’s visit is welcome, but what people need now is a permanent solution, not temporary dewatering. A time-bound action plan for Shehr-e-Khaas must be put in place,” Inam said.(KNS).
