CM Omar Abdullah Stresses Swift Execution of Budget Proposals, Calls for Ground-Level Governance

Srinagar, May 5 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday urged for the immediate implementation of budget proposals and stressed that the government’s efforts must become visible in the next six months through effective governance and public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat Srinagar to mark the resumption of the annual office shift to the summer capital, Abdullah emphasized that governance should not remain confined to administrative buildings but be felt tangibly on the ground.

“All departments must focus on deliverables and accountability. When we move to Jammu in six months, we must have a list of real developments to show,” he told ministers, administrative secretaries, and top officials present at the review session.

The Chief Minister directed departments to expedite implementation of development projects, utilize the brief working season efficiently, and ensure full execution of the budget passed in March.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe highlighted the importance of overcoming obstacles and reaffirmed government commitment to reviewing progress with top officials, including the Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary.

Referencing his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Abdullah said the Centre expects governance and development efforts in J&K to remain undeterred by challenges, including the recent Pahalgam attack.

He also expressed hope that the inauguration of the Rail-to-Kashmir project—delayed due to weather—would happen soon, helping counter speculation and boost connectivity.

“Our sole purpose is to serve the people. The public has placed trust in us to deliver, and we must rise to that responsibility,” Abdullah concluded. (KNS)
