Cluster University of Jammu organized workshop on “Hands-on Latex”

Srinagar,23 May (KNS): Department of Mathematics, School of Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu organized two days workshop on the topic “Hands-on LaTeX” on May  21-22 2021 under the patronage of Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu. In this programme Prof. Bhupinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs was the chief guest. The programme started with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjay Verma, Dean faculty of Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu.

He welcomed all the participants and the audience and advised the young scholars to continue their academic activities and should learn new tools of mathematics. Prof. Bhupinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs in his address praised the Department of Mathematics for organizing the workshop on Latex training which will help the budding mathematicians in their higher studies and they can self type their research papers or project easily.

Dr Narinder Sharma, Coordinator Mathematics and Convener of the programme gave a brief introduction of the theme of the workshop and different activities to be covered in the workshop. He also thanked Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, the Cluster University of Jammu for always encouraging the department to organize such events.

In the morning session of day one, Dr Pavinder Singh of Central University of Jammu was the resource person who gave a talk on the Latex Manual and different types of commands along with a practical session. In the afternoon session Students carried out a tutorial session under the supervision of Dr Anil Singh, Assistant Professor of  M.A.M College.
On day two Dr Sanjeev Singh from IIT Indore was the resource person who gave a talk on online tools of Latex programming and research material like overleaf, google scholar etc. In the afternoon session, Dr Sapna Sharma from the Cluster University of Jammu gave a talk on “ Latex on mobiles”  in which she made aware students how to do latex programming through mobile phones. 

About 150 students including faculty members of various institutes attended the workshop, which was coordinated by Dr Sapna Sharma, Dr Sunil Sharma and Rohit Verma, members of the organizing committee. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Narinder Sharma. (KNS)
