Jammu April 02 (KNS) The 8th meeting of the Academic Council of Cluster University of Jammu was held on 02 April 2026 under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar. Prof. Mobin Mohd.,Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Srinagar virtually joined the meeting as a Special Invitee.The agenda was presented by Prof. Twinkle Suri, Dean Academic Affairs.
The meeting was attended by the Controller of Examinations, Dean Research Studies, Deans of faculties,Principals of constituent colleges, Heads of Departments, and Coordinators of University Schools. Registrar, and Deans of Cluster University of Srinagar attended virtually as special invitees.

The Council confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and action taken report, and approved key academic reforms aligned with NEP 2020 and UGC guidelines, including statutory provisions for One-Year and Two-Year Postgraduate Programmes.

In a significant step, 48 faculty members from constituent colleges were recognized as Ph.D. supervisors for the first time, strengthening the University’s research ecosystem.
Integrated programmes in Sciences will be reintroduced from the forthcoming academic session, with Languages and Social Sciences to follow in the next phase.

LOCF with defined PLOs, CLOs, and programme mapping was adopted in alignment with NEP to ensure outcome-based and standards-aligned education. Reforms also aligned BBA and BCA programmes with AICTE guidelines and strengthened the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) as per NCTE norms.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

New initiatives include the creation of a Department of Vedic Studies with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sanatana Dharma and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), a five-year Integrated PG Programme in Geography, M.Sc. Environmental Sciences (Renewable Energy), major courses in Economics, English, and Statistics, an Advanced Certificate in Dogri Translation,aCyber Security elective and a minor in inInformationTechnology .

Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be introduced as an elective, with faculty training as resource persons. The Council also considered adoption of UGC guidelines for “Professor of Practice” and Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programmes to strengthen industry linkages.
Student-centric measures along with research and academic flexibility provisions, were also considered in alignment with NEP 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor remarked, “This Academic Council marks a decisive step towards transforming our University into a future-ready institution rooted in Indian knowledge systems, driven by innovation, and committed to inclusive and outcome-based education.”
