Clear stand on AIIMS controversy: Hakim Yasin to Govt

Demands IIT, IIM, IIMC be established in Kashmir

Expressing deep concern over the way establishment of AIIMS have been politicized in the State, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today asked the government to clear its stand over the controversy.
He also urged the government to announce establishment of IIT and IIM in Kashmir the way All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was granted to Jammu.
In a press statement he said, “It seems government wants to divide people of two regions in the name of establishment of AIIMS which is unfortunate. The government is misleading the people of the state in the name of establishment of premier health institute. It should without any further delay clear its stand before the people.”
While supporting the demand for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu the MLA Khansahib demanded that Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) be established in Kashmir for equitable progress in the State.
“This will also dispel the perception of discrimination. Otherwise people of Kashmir would feel alienated which would have serious consequences and all responsibility would lie on the government shoulders,” Hakim Yasin warned.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He urged the Union Government to work on equitable infrastructure development and employment generation in the State so that a workforce is produced which could ultimately find job opportunities anywhere in the world.
Hakim Yasin also expressed his displeasure over mishandling of AIIMS issue advising the State and the Union Governments not to indulge in politics of regional divide and consider the demands for infrastructure building purely on merit. “Setting up of quality educational and technical institutions in Kashmir is a need of the hour as the Valley provides a perfect ambiance to be developed into an educational hub in the region,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hakim Yasin also condoled the demise of Imam-e-Khateeb of Dargah Hazratbal Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqi and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
“His passing away has left behind a big void which will be difficult to fill,” he said and expressed heart-felt sympathy with the family of the late Islamic scholar and prayed for place in Jannah for the departed soul. (KNS)
