Visitors hail improved sanitation, greenery; administration says focus is on sustainability, jobs through all-season tourism
Gulmarg, Sept 1 (KNS) : Tourists arriving in Gulmarg this season are being greeted with lush meadows, pristine surroundings and improved facilities, a transformation that has drawn praise from both visitors and locals.
Often described as the crown of Kashmir, Gulmarg has seen a visible improvement in sanitation and greenery in recent weeks.
Officials of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) said regular cleanliness drives, uninterrupted drinking water supply and upkeep of essential services have been prioritised. “Special care has been taken to preserve Gulmarg’s natural beauty while upgrading facilities,” the CEO of GDA told KNS, adding that the effort was aimed at combining visitor comfort with long-term sustainability.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, who has been actively monitoring the arrangements said that Gulmarg is not just pride but treasure for the entire nation. "A cleaner Gulmarg means more tourists, more jobs and greater respect for Kashmir globally,” he said.
“This is the cleanest I’ve seen Gulmarg in years. Walking through the meadows feels refreshing,” said a tourist from Delhi, while acknowledging change.
Officials said that sustained upkeep of Gulmarg’s environment is also critical for all-weather tourism, beyond the traditional winter sports season, with a view to positioning the resort as a year-round destination.(KNS)
