Pulwama, Feb 22 (KNS): At least 15 youth on Monday sustained injuries in clashes between forces and youth that erupted in adjacent areas of JKEDI, an encounter site in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Eye-witnessed told KNS that almost 15 youth got injured after forces fired pellets to them.
They said that the protesters are less than half kilometer far from the encounter site. “Forces resorted to tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters,” eye-witness told KNS.
The protesters are raising pro-freedom slogans and are trying to march towards the encounter site in Sampora area of Pampore.
Sources said that a few troopers also sustain injuries in the clashes between youth and forces.
According to KNS correspondent, despite curfew-like restriction was imposed by the authorities in several parts of Pampore where clashes erupted on Sunday, hundreds of protesters took to streets and blocked the National Highway to express solidarity with the militants believed to be three or more in number who hid in JKEDI building on Saturday after attacking CRPF convoy coming from Jammu-Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that locals are praising militants via Masjid loudspeakers. “Jago Jago Subah Huwi anthem in Local Masjids continued since from the wee hours of Monday morning,” he said.
The suspected militants attacked the CRPF convoy on Saturday evening and hid in JKEDI building.
The encounter entered its third day today and is still continue while the death toll in ongoing encounter mounted to seven including a civilian, Abdul Gani Mir of Gundipora Pulwama who was gardener in JKEDI, captain Pawan Kumar of 10 PARA regiment belonging to Jind (Haryana), captain Tushar Mahajan of 9 PARA regiment belonging to Udhampur town of Jammu region, Lance Naik Om Prakash of 9 PARA regiment, head constable Bhola Prasad Singh, a driver constable R. K. Rana, both of the CRPF and a militant. (KNS)
