Srinagar November 27 (KNS): Civil Society Forum Kashmir Health praised the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for creating a new Task Force focused on rehabilitation of drug abuse victims. The group said the move shows strong leadership from the Chief Secretary. It also said the initiative reflects a clear plan rooted in data and field needs
The Task Force includes senior officials from Home, Finance, General Administration, Social Welfare, Skill Development, Labour and Employment, Economics and Statistics, and School and Higher Education. This broad structure allows coordinated action across key sectors. It also supports work on supply control, demand reduction, risk mitigation, and long term rehabilitation.

He appointed nodal officers in all colleges and began training programmes to build a pool of counsellors. The Forum said this step strengthens early intervention and community based support for students.
The Forum recommended adding the Medical Education Department to the Task Force. It said psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and physicians should take part in planning and implementation. Their input can improve treatment protocols and help track health outcomes.
The Forum repeated its appreciation for the Chief Secretary. It said coordinated action across administration, education, health, and community groups can strengthen rehabilitation services in Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
