Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNS): Citing harsh weather conditions and frequent closure of roads in the Valley, the Kashmiri engineering students who are scheduled to appear in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) here have demanded authorities to change their centres to Kashmir, which they believe will be feasible for them to appear in the examinations in any kind of weather conditions.
Notably, many aspirants who were scheduled to appear in NEET examinations recently have failed to appear as the harsh weather conditions and closure of road prevented them to reach their examination centres.
However, the engineering students who are scheduled to appear in the GATE examinations in next month said that keeping in view of the frequent closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway and prevailing harsh weather conditions, the authorities should shift their examination centres to Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shahid Ahmad, an aspirant told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the State administration headed by Governor Satya Pal Malik must intervene in this regard so that the students who are scheduled to appear in the examinations could heave a sigh of relief.
He added that due to harsh weather conditions in the month of February, many aspirants from the Valley could make it to appear in the GATE, situated outside the Valley. “We are preparing for the examinations and the State administration must take steps to fulfill the demands of students and to ensure 100 percent attendance in the GATE examination from the Valley,” he said.
Shahid told KNS that some of the candidates have also approached to the higher ups in this regard and have urged them to intervene so that they (aspirants) could heave a sigh of relief. (KNS)
