Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNS): The Central Industrial Security Forces on Tuesday took charge of Srinagar airport on Wednesday.
The decision to handover the security of these two airports was taken after the arrest of DySP Davinder Singh, who was posted with the anti-hijacking team at Srinagar airport. Till now, security at the airports was jointly handled by J&K Police and the CRPF.
However the CRPF would continue to take care of security of the outer areas of the airports.
The order number 824 of 2020 dated 25-02-2020 issued by Police headquarters directs the police personnel posted in these headquarters to repatriate their parent zones.
“ all the police personnel at executive/armed presently attached at twin airports of UT of J&K under the orders of PHQ/APHQ/SHQ are hereby detached and repatriated to their parent district/ battalions/ units with immediate effect,” it reads.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Gazetted officers presently posted at twin airports shall report at PHQ for further adjustment,” it adds.
However some officials have been asked to retain their present postings.
On January 13, the Union home ministry sanctioned about 800 personnel to the CISF in order to take over security duties at the three airports of the newly created Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. (KNS).
