Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNS): The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has arrested two people in connection with a case involving the alleged circulation of radical and anti-national content on social media, officials said on Monday.
The arrests were made on Sunday, a day after the intelligence agency carried out searches at several locations across the Kashmir Valley as part of its investigation into FIR No. 03/2023 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar.
The accused have been identified as Mehran Qazi, son of Atta Mohammad Qazi and a resident of Hiller Shahbad in Anantnag's Dooru area, and Babar Hamid Dar, son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Chankan in Sopore, officials said.
During the searches conducted on August 8, investigators seized six digital devices and seven SIM cards, which have been taken up for detailed examination, they said.

The case has been registered under Sections 505 and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the CIK, the investigation concerns the alleged dissemination of material containing radical and anti-national themes through social media platforms.
The agency said the content under scrutiny allegedly included radical narratives, glorification and projection of individuals linked to terrorism, extremist viewpoints and material that could potentially influence or radicalise impressionable people.
The digital material recovered during the searches is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation, officials said.
Further investigation in the case is underway.(KNS)
