Chandigarh, April 12 (KNS): BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, on behalf of the farmers of Punjab for relaxation in the uniform specifications of wheat during procurement season 2023-24, in view of lustre loss or shriveled and broken grains in Rabi crops, especially wheat crop, due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms.
He said the prime minister has launched a number of welfare schemes for farmers which have befitted them a long way in improving their economic condition.
Chugh also thanked Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Piyush Goyal for standing by farmers of Punjab in this moment of crisis.
The Central Government, it may be mentioned, has allowed purchase of wheat having lustre loss up to 80 percent and shrivelled grain up to 18 percent.(KNS)
