Srinagar, June 03 (KNS): The Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar Friday inaugurated Court Room at State Accountability Commission (SAC).
Among others Chairperson State Accountability Commission Justice B. A. Khan, Member SAC Justice J.P Singh, Additional Advocate General, Deputy Advocate General besides senior advocates and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Welcoming the chief justice, Justice Khan lauded his efforts to revive SAC. He said even as institutions were created but these suffered a retarded growth due to several factors, more particularly the indifference by the successive government.
Justice Khan said the SAC was in the process of settling down after it was revived from a defunct condition and so far it had achieved 25% of its requirement and equipped with minimum facilities including an investigation wing, it was all set to take off. But strangely it was not receiving any worthwhile complaints against public men so far.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe pleaded for restoration of the State Accountability Commission Act to its original position to include government servants and government corporations etc.
Justice B.A Khan said with the inauguration of the court room the SAC is able to hear cases/complaints in court instead of rooms. He said besides appropriate environment, proper infrastructure and facilities are important for the smooth functioning of the judicial and quasi judicial bodies and hoped that new court room will help the commission to function in more efficient and effective manner. He appealed people to come forward with genuine complaints so that such complaints or grievances are addressed to provide justice without delay to the people to achieve the object for which this commission was setup.
The chief appreciated the revival of the commission and said he was there to serve the people of the State and was keen to revive all institutions lying in a defunct condition. (KNS)
