Chemists & Druggist Association organizes awareness program on Drug de-addiction

Bandipora, Sep 03 (KNS) : A Day long programme against Drug Abuse/NASHA MUKT BHARAT was organised by Chemists and Distributors Association of north Kashmir's Bandipora district in which the people from this Fraternity of various tehsils of Bandipora attended the program to create awareness about the menace.


Drug Control Officer Mir Wasim Hassan attended the Awareness program and stressed on the participants to play their role in eradicating the menace from society. He said the drug abuse has reached to a dangerous level in the state and everyone needs to come forward and play her/his role in fighting this menace. He asked the chemists to keep vigil on their wards so as to prevent them from falling in a death trap of drug abuse.

 He stressed on the need for moral education of the children of present day age and appealed both parents as well as teachers to ensure that children do not fall prey of any social evil. He said that we will launch a vigorous awareness campaign against drug menace across the district and also urged upon the student community to concentrate on studies and also take part in sports and athletic activities.

 Mir Wasim said the unemployment is the main cause of people staying idle and becoming victim of drug abuse. He urged the youth to spend their time in productive work and search for job avenues in private sector instead of staying idle. 

He said the youth should avail the benefit of several state and central sponsored schemes in different sectors to start their own income generation units. On the occasion chemists from Bandipora, Sonawari, Aloosa, Ajas and Hajin attended the Awareness program and discussed various aspects of drug abuse-causes, effects and prevention.

 President drug association Bandipora Mazhar Ul Haq while speaking on the occasion presented the scenario of drug a buse in Bandipora and expressed concern over the increase rate of drug abuse in the district. He said the teachers, Civil Society, Parents, religious preachers and Police need to roll their heads and launch a joint war against this menace failing which the society will collapse before this menace.

Aseer Ali general secretary of association urged the participants to be the ambassadors for Drug De-addiction by keeping watch in their locality so that a person can be rescued from this menace in initial stage. He said the Police has also declared a war on drug addiction and dozens of drug peddlers have been arrested from past few weeks. He stressed on coordination between police, civil government and civil society to fight the menace.

Drug Control officer spoke on the occasion and highlighted negative impact of drug addiction on society. He cautioned the young generation from falling in this trap and said that once falling in this menace, it is very difficult for the victim to return to normal life. He asked the parents to keep watch on the company of their kids so that they don’t fall in a bad company.

He urged the Media to play its role in informing the public about the demerits of drug abuse. He said the Media can play an important role in helping the society to eradicate this menace by informing the public about the menace and identifying the loopholes in our fight against the Drug abuse so that together we win this war against drug abuse

The organisers of the event said the aim of this event was to make young people aware about the drugs.

Drug Control Officer stressed the fraternity to adhere with the conditions of license and the directions which are given to them from time to time. He also urged the chemists to maintain sale purchase record of NRx drugs, install cctv's, put lock based mechanism for habit forming drugs
 
He said such programs will be organized in future at Tehsil levels also as well.(KNS)
