Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club (JKHC) has expressed regret over the tragic fire incident of two houseboats in Dal Lake.

In a statement issued to KNS, Chairman JKHC Mushtaq Chaya said houseboat s are the main USPs of the Kashmir tourism industry which are dwindling due to fire incidents.

Chaya said Government should ensure foolproof fire fighting arrangements for the houseboats at Dal and Nigeen Lake to prevent this heritage industry.

“We are deeply saddened at the fire incident of two deluxe houseboats. We sympathise with the affected families and demand immediate compensation from the government for the owners,” said Chaya.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club also sought upgradation of the Srinagar airport to CAT III ILS system to so that flights can operation during bad weather.

He also appealed to the Tourism department to provide all assistance to the stranded tourists due to cancellation of the flights. (KNS)
