Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNS): Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, Mehraj ud Din Shah, broke down in tears on his superannuation, hugging his chair and asserting he never committed any wrongdoing during his tenure.
A video widely circulated on social media shows Shah holding his chair and asking it to “stand witness” to his clean record, drawing praise from viewers for his integrity and service.
The School Education Department organized a farewell at the BHSS Kupwara auditorium, attended by officials, teachers, and community members.
Speakers highlighted Shah’s long career in the department, noting his postings as Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) at multiple locations and his focus on procedural adherence and direct engagement.

Teachers at the event credited him with steady support during staffing shortages and inspections.
The emotional scene in his office further reflected his connection with the department. Many online viewers described the moment as a testament to his dedication, professional conduct, and friendly work habits.
Shah retires after 36 years of service. He joined the education department on July 3, 1989, as a teacher at High School Drugmulla, became a Lecturer on September 9, 1992, Senior Lecturer in 2006, and Principal of GHSS Trehgam in October 2011.
He assumed the role of Chief Education Officer, Kupwara, in February 2025.
He also served as District Vigilance Officer for five years, a role requiring strict integrity, and his colleagues said his farewell was a recognition of his long-standing contribution to public service in Kupwara.(KNS).
