New Delhi, Nov 18 (KNS): The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday issued an advisory to private satellite television channels, directing them to avoid broadcasting material related to recent incidents, including the Red Fort blast case, that could influence public order.
The Ministry said it had reviewed certain broadcasts in which individuals allegedly connected to the Red Fort blast were presented in a manner that could be interpreted as support for violent acts. It also noted instances where channels aired clips or information that resembled instructions on preparing explosive devices, which the Ministry said could lead to misuse.
Broadcasters were reminded that they are required to comply with the Programme and Advertising Code under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe advisory pointed to Rule 6(1)(d), which bars defamatory or obscene content; Rule 6(1)(e), which prohibits material that may encourage violence or promote views against national interest; and Rule 6(1)(h), which restricts content that may impact the country’s integrity.
The Ministry, as per KNS stated that channels must ensure that no visual or detail is aired that could be used to support or facilitate illegal activities. It further noted that any content with potential to affect ongoing investigations or security matters must be avoided.
The advisory has been circulated to all private satellite broadcasters for immediate compliance. (KNS)
