CE KPDCL urges people to avoid use of electrical gadgets during Sehri, Iftar

Srinagar, 20 April (KNS):  Chief Engineer KPDCL Ajaz Ahmed Dar today said that usage of heating gadgets during Sehri and Iftaar timings is resulting in unscheduled power curtailments during month of Ramadan.

People in some areas of Kashmir valley are facing frequent power cuts especially during Sehri and Iftar times.

Speaking to KNS, CE distribution KPDCL said that, "keeping in view the weather advisory for next two days, temperature is again expected to drop and load in the system will again increase. As such, all the consumers are humbly requested to use electricity judiciously and to avoid use of heating gadgets at Sehri and Iftaar times so that people can get relief from unscheduled power curtailment."

He added that KPDCL doesn't want people to have Sehri or Iftar in the absence of electricity, " but due to use of electrical gadgets, the demand is overtaking the supply, causing load to feeders and resulting in the power curtailment"

He appealed the people to refrain from using electronic appliances to get rid of unscheduled power curtailments.

Notably, as compared to last year's load of 1475 MW during ramzan 1630 is being served this year, he claimed.(KNS)
