CCIK urges admin to keep men, machinery ready for snowfall exigency

Srinagar, Dec 20 (KNS): Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has urged the LG administration to keep men and machinery ready for the harsh winter months of Chillai Kalan so that common people will not face inconveniences.

In a statement issued to KNS, CCIK President Tariq Rashid Ghani, said the frequent power outage has brought innumerable miseries to the people of the Valley.

Ghani said businessmen, traders, students and general population are suffering for want of proper electricity.

CCIK President urged the LG administration to impress upon the officers for proper electricity supply and minimum curtailment schedule during the winter months.

CCIK has also urged the LG administration to consider the genuine demands of the protesting PDD employees so that power supply is restored at earliest.

The CCIK said owing to the predictions of snowfall, the government should also keep the men and machinery ready so that roads are cleared of snow on time.

"Most of the times, during snowfall, the roads remain blocked which causes inconveniences to the masses. Snow clearance machines should be pressed into service during night so that roads are open for the normal life activities," he said.

The Chamber also sought keeping Srinagar Jammu highway open for traffic and essential supplies so that uninterrupted supply of essential commodities is ensured in the markets during the winter months.

“Government should make contingency plans so that roads including Srinagar-Jammu highway is open for movement. This will also ensure timely supply of essential items to the valley markets,” he said. (KNS)
