Srinagar, April 26 (KNS): Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) President Tariq Rashid Ghani today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhawan, Srinagar, and held a detailed discussion on issues affecting the trade and business community of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting covered a range of critical concerns including declining tourism, deteriorating road infrastructure in downtown Srinagar and the growing menace of drug addiction across the Union Territory.
Ghani raised serious concern over the declining tourist influx in Kashmir and urged the LG administration to launch an aggressive tourism promotion campaign with special focus on attracting high-end tourists to the Valley. He said tourism is the backbone of Kashmir's economy and any decline in footfall directly impacts thousands of traders, hoteliers, artisans and transport operators. He called for a comprehensive tourism policy that positions Kashmir as a world-class destination.
The CCIK President also drew the Lieutenant Governor's attention to the deteriorating condition of roads in downtown Srinagar, describing it as a serious impediment to business activity and daily commerce.

Ghani warmly appreciated the launch of the Nasha Mukt J&K campaign by the LG administration, calling it one of the most timely and important social initiatives in recent years. He expressed the CCIK's full support for the May 3 mega rally being organised under the campaign and urged traders, businessmen and civil society members to participate in large numbers.
Sharing the Lieutenant Governor's message, Ghani said the LG strongly emphasised that the business community and civil society must come forward collectively to wipe out the menace of drug addiction from every corner of Jammu and Kashmir.
The CCIK President also raised several other issues confronting the business community, and the Lieutenant Governor assured him that all concerns would be addressed on priority. (KNS)
