Srinagar, Nov 29 (KNS) : The Chamber of Commerce & Industry fo Kashmir (CCIK) convened a crucial meeting yesterday with the Office Bearers, Div Comm, SMC Commissioner Srinagar, SSP Traffic, and other senior administrative officials to address the rising civic challenges in the city.
During the meeting, CCIK raised serious concerns over the persistent traffic congestion in Srinagar. The representatives stressed the need for removal of key traffic bottlenecks and called for the maximum deployment of Traffic Police personnel to ensure streamlined and effective traffic management.
With winter approaching, CCIK urged Div Comm to deploy firefighters at vital locations to ensure prompt response during emergencies. The body also appealed to the Health Department to ensure round-the-clock availability of Senior Resident Doctors in hospitals throughout the winter season.
Furthermore, CCIK emphasized the urgency of securing adequate supplies of essential commodities ahead of snowfall, ensuring that residents do not face shortages during harsh weather conditions.
CCIK concluded that the upcoming snow season demands strong coordination, timely action, and advanced planning from all departments to safeguard public convenience and safety.
The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has requested the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and the SMC Commissioner to take immediate steps to revive the defunct Kashmir Haat.

CCIK proposed that if the authorities are unable to activate the space themselves, it should be outsourced to CCIK, enabling local entrepreneurs to organize exhibitions and showcase their products in the future.
The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has urged the Divisional Commissioner to identify and develop dedicated parking spaces in Downtown Srinagar, stating that the area has now emerged as a major shopping hub and faces severe parking shortages.
CCIK highlighted that although some road widening has been carried out in Downtown, proper parking slots are still lacking, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to both shoppers and traders.
The body requested the administration to deploy adequate Traffic Police personnel and vehicles in the area to ensure smooth movement and to prevent disruption to business activities.
Additionally, CCIK appealed to the business fraternity to cooperate in keeping pedestrian pathways open for public movement, ensuring a more organized and accessible marketplace.
