CCIK hails reopening of tourist destinations in J&K

SRINAGAR, Feb 16 (KNS) : The Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) on Monday welcomed the administration's decision to throw open tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir, hailing it as a "timely" move that would inject confidence into the industry ahead of the peak season.

In an official statement, CCIK President Tariq Ghani expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for ordering the reopening of spots, asserting the move sends a "positive message" as the region gears up for the upcoming tourism cycle.

"We are thankful to the Lieutenant Governor for ordering the reopening of tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir. It will send a positive message as the tourism season is about to begin," Ghani said.

The decision, according to him, is poised to restore confidence among a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including tourists, travel operators, hoteliers, and transporters whose fortunes are tied to the hospitality sector.

Ghani also lauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his "proactive role" in pursuing the matter and championing the cause of tourism promotion.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"His proactive approach has strengthened confidence within the industry," the CCIK President added.

While welcoming the current relaxations, the Chamber expressed hope that the remaining tourist destinations would also be reopened in the coming days to ensure a "full-fledged and smooth" tourism season across the region.

Asserting that the sector is a lifeline for thousands, Ghani noted that the step would provide much-needed relief to businesses dependent on tourism. "We have been consistently advocating for the reopening of tourist destinations as thousands of livelihoods are linked to the sector," he said, adding that the move would help revive economic activity and generate employment, particularly in tourism-dependent areas.

Reiterating its commitment to collaboration, the CCIK assured the administration of its full support to maintain high standards of hospitality, safety, and service in anticipation of increased tourist footfall. (KNS)
